Our goal is to provide optimal health care for your pet while prioritising sustainability and reducing potential negative impacts on the environment and our society.

Although this is a relatively novel concept in veterinary medicine, at Veteris, we’re committed to future-proofing veterinary care.

We ensure sustainability every step of the way, from the products and vehicles we use to reduced paper trails and green initiatives.

We truly believe that this is the way forward and that transparent sustainability should be present in every part of the industry.

Our Commitment to a Greener Future

We are boldly moving towards 100% sustainability. We feel that every industry has a responsibility to care for this planet and the animals that live on it.

Why Sustainability is Part Of Our Mission

We’re passionate about sustainability and believe it is our duty to help preserve this planet for the environment's sake.

This is not just for the here and now but for generations to come. Our vision is long-term and not one we’re willing to compromise on.

Supporting RCVS Environmental Standards

The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons- the professional regulator of the veterinary industry- is on our side here.

In June 2023, they requested that every practice introduce a written environmental sustainability policy.

This recognises the importance of actions taken in each clinic and the collective impact this will have.

Reducing Waste Through Recycling

Just because something has been used doesn’t mean it is suddenly useless. We try to make the most out of everything in our clinics.

Everyday Recycling in Our Clinics

We recycle where we can, whether it be the cardboard in our daily deliveries, or our paper and office supplies. This easy habit can reduce landfill significantly.

Managing Clinical Waste Responsibly

Our staff is trained to appropriately deal with the different types of waste. Our clinical waste (like used sharps and PPE) is managed separately from our general waste.

The veterinary profession as a whole is held to a very high standard in this regard.

Lowering Emissions With Electric Vans

Having a semi-electric fleet means lower greenhouse emissions, reduced noise pollution, and cleaner air. Our drivers also enjoy a smoother driving experience.

Investing in Low-Emission Transport

The investment in our transport has meant a longer-term cost reduction, thanks to the efficiency of the energy used by the vans.

There is resilience against fuel price volatility (something we are familiar with here in the UK).

We need to stay economically sustainable and provide the most effective service for our clients.

Reducing Our Carbon Footprint for Home Visits

Even a small journey can have a big impact on pollution levels.

While a home visit may only entail a few miles of driving, keeping some journeys electric means a lower environmental impact and less CO2 being emitted into the atmosphere.

Choosing Biodegradable Products Wherever Possible

Biodegradable means something that can break down into harmless substances rather than remain forever, like some styrofoam or plastics.

Switching to Eco-Friendly Cleaning and Medical Supplies

We use biodegradable and planet-friendly supplies in all of our branches to help maintain clean water and protect the health of our staff, clients, and patients.

Reducing Plastic and Chemical Pollution

By reducing plastic and landfill waste and chemical pollution, we’re doing all we can to lower our environmental footprint.

A good example of cutting down on chemical pollution is our commitment to using anaesthetic gas efficiently and minimising any waste.

An Environmental Champion Leading the Way

We believe we’re at the forefront of this initiative in the veterinary industry, and we're proud to be setting an example for others to follow.

Coordinating Green Initiatives Across Teams

Our team-wide policies and training ensure that all our staff are educated on the importance of sustainability and that the procedures are in place to make it an achievable target in every clinic.

Training Staff and Monitoring Progress

We’re dedicated to ensuring a ‘whole team’ approach, as we understand each individual's importance and contribution to the initiative.

We welcome feedback and constantly monitor our procedures to ensure we’re always improving.

Working Towards a Paperless Practice

One exciting initiative of ours is the desire to go paperless.

Digital Records and Online Appointment Booking

The less paper and ink we use, the better for our planet. We can realise this dream by having digital rather than paper records and implementing a robust appointment booking system.

Reducing Printing and Paper Invoices

Similarly, we can email invoices and communication documents to clients and suppliers, further reducing the environmental impact.

We are proud to confirm that all of our invoices and reports are communicated via email.

Join Us in Making a Difference

It’s not just us; you can also play a role here, supporting our clinics to really make a difference.

How Pet Owners Can Support Eco-Friendly Care

Remember, all of the little things add up. This can mean choosing a paperless invoice, recycling your pets’ medicine packaging, and choosing biodegradable poo bags and cat litter.

Our Vision for Future Sustainability Goals

Together, we can manifest a greener, healthier future. Little steps make a big difference, and if every vet clinic followed our lead, there is little doubt of the real and significant impact this would have.
